About me

Hi, my name is Tommaso Chieco and I’m an Italian film composer and writer currently based in Rome. I attended two of the most prestigious schools of performing arts in Italy: L. Cherubini and Santa Cecilia Conservatoire, where I graduated in Classical Composition and Film Scoring.

In this period I’ve composed original music, scores and orchestrations for theatre, film and television. At the same time I graduated in 2009 in philosophy in Rome, at the prestigious faculty “La Sapienza”. My music was recorded at Forum Music Village and broadcast on Sky TV. As assistant, I worked at the world premiere “The witches of Venice” opera, composed by Philip Glass and performed, in 2009, at the “Parco della Musica Auditorium”.

In October 2012 I met Italian composer Umberto Scipione and I worked with him as a music score assistant on the draft of “Il Principe Abusivo” (2013), “Un boss in salotto” (2014), Carlo Verdone’s Film “Sotto una buona stella” and Alessandro Siani’s Film “Si accettano miracoli” (2015). At the same time, I succeeded in composing (and recording with a real orchestra) the soundtrack for a documentary (entitled “Sotto gli 8 minuti”), which was released at the cinema and broadcast on a national network (SKY).

In 2016, he did an arrangement of “The barber of Seville” (Rossini) commissioned by “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma”. In december finally, a documentary “Italiani a Stelle e Strisce” (composed of six episodes) was broadcast on an international network (Mediaset Italia channel) in Usa, Europe and Australia. The following year, one of my soundtracks for a short film from a larger project entitled ‘Roman Citizens‘ won an ‘honourable mention‘ in the ‘Indie Gathering’ competition.

In 2019 the arrangement of the Barber of Seville (Opera Camion) was performed in the most important Italian cities such as Rome, Palermo, Reggio Emilia. The project has been extended until the end of 2020.
